Planning,
organisation and marketing of the Association’s conferences and
events
Background information
The
Association is a trade association. Its members
are involved across the whole range of renewable energy sources;
solar, wind, biomass, transport bio-fuels, biogas, hydropower, wave,
tidal and energy from waste.
We
are looking for a full time Conference Manager to join the team of
18 staff (approximately half of which are part time). The candidate
should have energy and enthusiasm, combined with a professional
approach, good communications and organisational skills, attention
to detail and, ideally, an interest in the renewable energy sector.
The Association is a rapidly growing organisation and offers good career
development prospects.
About our events
The
Association holds four conferences each year, most of which also feature
industry exhibitions and conference dinners. These are
competitively priced, although they are expected to contribute a
significant part of the income of the association. A number of
other events, such as seminars, site visits and organising REA
exhibition stands at third party events, can also occur throughout
the year.
Primary job functions
-
Sourcing and booking venues, overseeing catering, audio visual
equipment and other arrangements

Inviting, briefing and thanking speakers, collating presentations
and biographies, preparing and publicising programmes, analysing and
responding to feedback

Organising the associated exhibitions & liaising with exhibitors at
events

Putting together sponsorship packages and finding sponsors

Marketing Association events, both internally to the membership, and
externally through contra-deals, trade press and other routes
including liaison with like-minded organisations for cross-marketing
purposes

Making sure the PowerPoint presentations run smoothly on the day

The
production of delegate packs and overseeing the placement of
information and presentations about the event on the REA website

Responding to queries about external events, clarifying REA
involvement with external events, identifying potential staff and
member involvement

Preparing budgets for events and monitoring performance against them

Undertaking such other functions as may be required to ensure the
effective operation of the Association

Some
UK travel will be required.
Starting salary
Up to £27,500.
